The ubiquitous Sixpin beetles were scavengers that helped to breakdown depleted creatures and flora throughout the forest floor. The variety of colors within this species evolved as environment-specific camoflauge.
• This specimen form was derived from Blister Beetles (family Meloidae).
• The small, thin gold part running the length of the back is the second or minute hand from a watch (interesting note).
• The creature is polished on the face, top and sides with frosted back and bottom.
• Requires 3 AA batteries, see images below for battery installation advice.
• The on/off switch is integrated into the aftermarket battery holder on the back.
• The coper and brass-can LED holders where fabricated by me. The copper and brass parts will form a patina, this is expected — I enjoy a naturally changing surface texture as contrast to the stark mechanical forms.
• You could clean the brass/copper with brass or copper cleaner, but be sure to keep that off of the cast insect.
• The cast insect is susceptible to fingerprints and may have slight surface imperfections. The cast piece can be cleaned with a tiny amount of rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth.
• There are 5 total LEDs — red and white on the sides, and a diffused white LED on the back. The side LEDs pulse on and off.
• The LEDs are only visible in very low light (this is not a lamp.)
• This is not a toy and should be considered fragile.
• Please do not leave unattended when lit.
• The cast insect is susceptible to fingerprints and may have slight surface imperfections. The cast piece can be cleaned with a tiny amount of rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth.
