This specimen is inspired by the Sphinx Moth and/or Hawk Moth. I am using the biological definition of culture meaning to ‘maintain (tissue cells, bacteria, etc.) in conditions suitable for growth.’ I wanted to convey both the beauty of a thing being made or partially complete and the bizarre chaos & engineering that happens behind the scenes or maybe inside the machines, minds or evolution doing the work.

The creatures are cast in ArtResin brand epoxy resin. The cast cast creatures are ~6.5in (16.51cm) square. The cast creatures simply slides into a pocket on the wooden bezel. The designs on the wood panel are inlayed pieces from various old video projector cases that I've cut up. The back panels contain numerous electronic parts that are half-covered with a layer of tinted ArtResin. The bases and rods are solid brass. The base is signed and has rubber feet. If these are sold individually, I do have taller brass rods for the two shorter pieces. Some assembly will be required, I will provide instructions or can walk you through set up.
